Are you using a medical billing software in your medical practice? President Obama is working hard to pass his health reform. The troubling thing about what will happen to the medical industry and to the health system is that for the most part, more patients will be making calls to set up appointments to deal with the mental shock. The health bill doesn't really have much to do with medicine or with anyone's health. The health bill was written to save money, nobody knows for sure from whom, to a tune of 132 billion in the next ten years. The couple of trillion or so that is currently the remaining vestige of American health care was never consulted. Somebody has been playing fancy free and powerful with the country's vulnerable side, health. Who doesn't want to be healthy? But, will wiggling a few million each month from other national services really make people healthier?

Let's say someone didn't have health insurance and was working as a domestic. Not getting a yearly check up would have nothing to do with whether or not her employer paid for her health insurance since she could get a free health screening at any time in any hospital for free. If she suddenly got sick after twenty years and went to the hospital, her health care would be paid for, for free, whether she had health insurance or whether it was pre existing or no one knew it existed before she got sick. The con artists who are going to save us 132 billion in ten years, that we have got to see, are going to say that she got sick after working for twenty years without health insurance.

What is the medical industry and the health system going to do? Ask, if the pundits would like a free couple of sessions at a nearby free psychiatric unit. American doctors aren't going to do anything different from what they have been doing. Some might even like it if the new health bill, a glorified updated welfare bill actually since Medicaid wasn't touched, would kindly pay for their malpractice insurance and save them about a trillion in the next ten years, probably verified.

The health bill is really a political power bill, dressing up welfare trying to make those who depend on it feel less like charitable beggars. Actually, making those who rely on welfare give themselves welfare by charging the federal government to collect from the sources that they already collect welfare from already.

The medical industry will continue to write up insurance policies and the health system will go on as usual. Those who get caught up in the latest welfare scam to appease the delicate sensibilities of those who insist on being treated alike but who just need welfare that isn't called welfare but health will continue doing business as usual with just different names.

William Shakespeare, as usual, said it best. "A rose by any other name, would smell as sweet."

EMR software packages, or EHR systems, offer a far better approach to health record documentation than conventional, paper-based systems.
