Automobile giants Ford are set to give away as many as 100 brand new Ford Fiesta's in a competition called the "Fiesta Movement." What the hundred lucky winners have to do in return is advertise the brand of Ford through multiple social networks like Youtube, Facebook, Flickr and Myspace.
This cleverly marketed idea sprung up because of the upcoming "Rise of the Millenials" Millenials are born between 1979-1995 which makes up over 70 million people. By next year this portion of society are expected to make up 28% of drivers (the largest of any generation.) Ford believes that by attracting these consumers early via social media and online technology they may be able to ascertain some customer loyalty and keep them for life.
It is strongly believed by most marketing experts that the Millenials are set to be the most vital demographic development since the baby boomers. With over 11,000 teenagers reaching legal driving age every day!
The constant development of the internet has made keeping in contact with people easier and quicker than ever. Thanks to this and the popularity of social media networking a lot of brands have been able to make contact with potential or established customers to find out what they like and dislike about their product. According to a report on online trends, nearly 45% have their own blog with 55% uploading their own pictures on websites like Flickr. Nearly 60% are currently using social media websites like Facebook and Myspace and that statistic will only continue to grow.
The specially chosen winners will then have to use these forms of media to get their views across to share with the online community. Currently there are over 1,500 applicants so if you want a chance to get your hands on a new Ford Fiesta then apply today!
