Great business entrepreneurs of our time

In the last 30 years, we have seen more outstanding entrepreneurs than in all the previous centuries. Just a decade ago, Bill Gates was the only common household name- today we have many more entrepreneurs and some who are just as successful as Bill Gates. Some of the most famous entrepreneurs of recent times are:

Carlos Slim: This Mexican business man is among the wealthiest man in the world and numbers indicate that he may have surpassed Bill Gates. He has major investments in telecommunications, retail banking, technology and auto parts. And he also has been very charitable giving millions to fund education and hospitals.

Sam Walton started out working for Du Pont and later saved money to open his own store in the 1950s. Over the years he bought and sold a few more stores. And in 1962 he opened up Wal-Mart. And the rest is history. The philosophy of Wal-Mart of offering convenience shopping at affordable prices has made it the number one retail giant in the world.

Michael Dell was born in Houston and even at a younger age he was fiercely competitive. He always believed that hard work would kill his competition. As a freshman in college he began his home PC business. He started his own company called PC Unlimited with 30 employees in 1985. In 5 years, his company was grossing 2 billion dollars and Dell made a name for itself in the computer industry. Dell continues to thrive and it is chiefly due to the entrepreneurial skills of Michael Dell.

Sergy Brin and his partner Larry Page have changed the world of cyberspace. With a PhD from Stanford, Sergy was hell bent on developing the internet with the technical experience he had gained at Stanford. Together with Larry Page, he formed Google in 1998. What started out to be a small meager office has now burgeoned into a mega billion dollar company- which stands at the top of the world.

There are many other entrepreneurs who have left a mark in the business world. Others include Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, Richard Branson, Mark Cuban, Roman Abramovich and Donald Trump.
