Easter is a great time to take a trip to Pembrokeshire. The Welsh countryside will finally becoming alive after the long winter with trees turning green and all the beautiful spring flowers start to bloom turning Pembrokeshire into a multicolour patchwork of blooms. The Welsh wildlife will also have a new spring in its step as animals come out of there winter homes and new lambs dot the hill sides across the country.
With the weather getting warmer (hopefully!) you might even think about heading down to the beach. It might not be trunks and bikini weather just yet but you can still spend a fantastic day down by the water. Some the best beaches include Aber Mawr a remote rural beach with a pebble bank, backed by earthed cliffs. Low tide exposes tree stumps buried in the sand - the remains of a forest drowned by a sudden flood when an ice sheet melted 8000 years ago. The stumps have been perfectly preserved by salt. Abercastle is another great beach and along with Aber Mawr is in Pembrokeshire. It a pretty little cove with beach and shingle. There are many other great beaches in Pembrokeshire and throughout Wales, in fact far too many to list here so why not go exploring for yourself and you may just come across a beach not many tourists have discovered before.
Pembrokeshire national park is one of three that can be found in Wales. Together they cover for nearly 20% of Wales. All three parks are very different from each other.
Pembrokeshire is Britain's only totally coastal national park. The park is made up of cliffs, beaches, islands, coves, caves, lakes and woodlands. The park is also home to its fair share of wildlife and is an ideal place to spot some of the fines marine life to be found in the British Isles. Dolphins, seals, puffins, woodpeckers, moorhens, herons, gannets and a whole variety of fish can be spotted from the park. If you are very lucky you may even get chance to spot the odd whale. It is often said that you will see more wildlife than people during your stay in Pemrokeshire National Park.
