Bingo is a game of complete luck that follows very simple rules. A large card of numbers (twenty-five to be exact), divided into individual squares is given to each player. Numbers from one to ninety are inside of each of these squares - but which numbers each player receives is at random. Once every player has a card the head of the game picks a number at random from some sort of device; whether it be a hat, tub of balls, or any other creative way to do it. Once the number is announced all players who have that number are required to put a small chip or token onto that square. The object of the game is to complete a row of numbers, or to have it completely covered. Once this is though you have not officially won the game; as if someone else has a covered row and yells the word "Bingo" before you , you still have a chance to lose. This means as soon as a row is covered, whether vertical, horizontal, or diagonal - shout the word "Bingo" to gain the head of the game's attention so that your card can be verified for accuracy.

This game has a long and interesting history that is responsible for its popularity today. Originally, bingo derives from the 1530's in Italy where they had a lottery based upon having the correct numbers. This game was titled "Lo Giuoco del Lotto D'Italia" - which spread to France to be renamed "Le Lotto" and then finally to North America; where it was established as "beano". Beano was an instant hit in county fairs across the states as a dealer would pick out random numbered discs (often from cigar boxes) in which the players would cover their cards with beans - hence the name. Instead of yelling bingo, they yelled "beano" when they won. An accidental yell of "bingo" instead of "beano" sparked the revolutionary game to its name and the inspiration to mass produce the game cards and establish solid rules. Today bingo is a widespread game that is used constantly in many gatherings. These vary from churches to schools to raise money or just for fun. Bingo is an easy game to play that involves countless hours of fun for any person of any age.
